If you give her enough rope...Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann gives her opponent a boost in donations

In case you missed Chris Mathews’ interview of guest Minnesota (Nice) Representative Michele Bachmann (Minnesota’s 6th District) on Hardball last Friday night, here it is. I hate to be the one to say it, but Congresswoman Bachmann has just set women back a decade with this interview. Evidently, the nice stuff was just window-dressing for the RNC, but the content of what she said perplexes me. Bachmann alleged that Senator Barack Obama and other members of Congress hold “un-American views” and she proposed a media investigation into "the views of the people in Congress [to] find out: Are they pro-America or anti-America?" When are politicians going to stop the lies? You would think in this age of technology, with limitless information at our (dare I say Joe Plumbers) fingertips, politicians would stop blatantly lying about issues de jour.

Oh the Irony
One would think that after appearing on Tweety-Bird’s show and knocking it out of the park (or the exact opposite), Bachmann would have countless monies showered upon her, but the opposite is true, her opponent, Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg (someone I have never heard of but did receive a $25 pay-pal donation from the Bushido) raised 1.3 million dollars since Bachmann’s appearance on Hardball. Hmm, oh well, Congresswoman, you stay “nice” there in Minnesota.

Here is the link to Huffstutter’s article from the LA Times concerning the raining of donations for Bachmann’s opponent Mr. Tinklenberg. If you wish to donate to his campaign, you can do so by clicking here on this link.

LNBB: Worst World Series

It’s late, or early depending on your disposition: farmers are like whewww!-hot off the press, Japanese business men will read it on their, next generation of super-sweet, phone/GPS device/camera/pda/debit-card for vending machines, way home from work this afternoon and my boss at the day job will wonder why that idiot (me) stayed up to 3 am to write a post about the World Series, the greed (for lack of a better word) of Major League Baseball and why Fox Executives are not thrilled about having the Rays vs the Phils in the World Series.

I guess, we’ll throw this baby in reverse and just go ahead and talk about the 300 lb gorilla in the room: how pissed are the suits at FOX that the Phillies and the (we can't even get the same turnout the Charleston Riverdogs get at their games) Tampa Rays are in the World Series? Seriously, who the heck is going to watch this World Series Championship? Can one Japanese Second-baseman attract the attention of the baseball loving Japanese fans in Tokyo? Doubtful. Not that the Rays didn't win fair and square, but the Red Sox would have been more attractive to the Japanese markets. And I am not sure who on the West Coast will watch the game, or on the East Coast for that matter but it is the Fall Classic so someone will tune in (for sure).

Why Can't Tampa Support Their Team Even When They Win?
Indeed, this Rays fan is cheering on her beloved Rays at Fenway, as Tampa defeated Boston in the ALCS but she is one of the few, and if you notice that she is not watching her Rays at Tropicana Field. She's watching it at the Fens. Not that the venue isn't attractive at Tropicana, but the town (or the fan-base for lack of a better word) doesn't support the team. And I guess, now would be the appropriate time to ask, why? Do people not make enough money to buy the ticket to the game? Has the economy crapped on Tampa more than the rest of the country? Are their players too young and too new to baseball that they don't have names to screen on to the backs of jerseys to sell to young kids? If you can explain it, I'd love to read them in the comments section.

Greed For Lack of A Better Word, Is Not Good
Something the suits in the front-office of Major League Baseball seem to miss out on in their insatiable chase for the all mighty dollar is that Baseball is America's sport! Major League Baseball and Bud Selig have forgotten the fans; they've forgotten the people who pay those million dollar paychecks. And baseball is missing an entire generation of kids right now. Sure you can dismiss my last point, but crunch the numbers, kids are playing baseball less and less each year. Part of this could be that these games which start at 8 or 9 pm are way past some (little) people's bed-times. And where do you go to watch highlights or something sofa-king awesome that happened on the diamond? Not on You-Tube. Put something that involves the MLB on You-Tube and watch how fast you get the post removed and have your account closed-uuups. Sorry to put the clip from the Red Sox vs. Braves game where Big Papi did the tomahawk chop and the Bushido's clip was closed within 8 hours.

Wednesday's WTF? There's No Crying In Football-Clemson Fan Gets Emotional!

Despite my total apathetic nature to the idea, a friend of the Bushido Bucarook had to let me watch this video clip of a Clemson fan calling in to our local news here in the Holy City and of course it is “funny” as all get out, so of course, it had to go on the Bushido.

I know, technically it is not funny when another human reaches out in a time of need and shows their emotions, but WTF man? Did the coach’s plane crash? Did the team bus flip off a bridge, crash and burn leaving no survivors? You are setting a bad example for young men across this great state. Which brings me to a conversation I had with “Sweets” the other night: my boy, Cash, was whining and whimpering about something, (probably because Daddy was on the phone and not paying him any attention) and I told him, to stop, “Traberts don’t cry”. To which, “Sweets” said, “Cash, it’s OK to cry”. Which baffles me, because I think there is something to be said for men to keep a stiff upper lip, keep things close to their chests and not leave the faucets on when they are talking about a coach being fired from their beloved Clemson Tigers football team. (Full disclosure: the Bushido does allow men to cry at funerals and if having a nose hair plucked—both are totally acceptable times to let loose, but just a bit).
